The Boy Scouts from St. Thomas Catholic Church, Troop 116, Riverside welcome you to the world of scouting. As your scoutmaster, I thank you for choosing this troop and hope to make your experience in scouting an enjoyable one. We have a very active troop and the scouts that are here are model boys and well received in this community.

As a new member of this troop we have put together this manual that should explain many of the requirements and procedures that are the standard of this troop. Please take some time to read through these pages and please feel free to ask any questions that concern you. The scouts will be the best source of information but all of the senior staff is available for clarification of any policy.

As you will see, we keep a very active schedule, so your participation at all meetings will aid in the fulfillment of your scouting experience. We are a "backpacking" troop with certain equipment requirements that will make your outdoor experiences a pleasant one. Our troop does have some of the required equipment, as a result of the contacts we have with the military, so don’t let the preserved costs of purchasing a lot of supplies be a deterrent to you fully experiencing the fun of scouting. Our quartermaster will be able to assist you in obtaining the required equipment. We are also privileged to have several merit badge counselors active in the troop which makes for advancement a much more accessible task.
