Troop Activities
Since we are a camping/backpacking
troop, the logistics of putting an outing together for a troop this size takes a
lot of planning and coordinating. As it has been stated at the meetings and other
campouts, the most important issue with putting together a trip is knowing how many
scouts and adults are planning to attend. I know that the troop has gone through
some pretty big changes recently and that I haven’t held steadfast to some of what
I mention now, it is vital that all personnel adhere to the following rules.
1. All scouts
taking part in an outing, whether camping, backpacking or hiking, must have permission
slips and medical release forms turned in 2 weeks prior
to the event.
2. Any adults
taking part in an outing must inform the scoutmaster or Senior patrol leader 2 week
in advance.
3. All scouts
must have the equipment checked by the patrol leader or senior staff 1 week prior to the outing. This is required
to verify that each scout has the required gear for the event.
4. All scouts
will have all required money turned in 1 week prior
to the event. We have had problems collecting funds as required thus leaving the
burden on one scout to cover the costs of others.
5. All scouts
are to inform their patrol leader of the intentions for each trip ASAP.
Any scout not meeting the above mentioned time frame will not be eligible
for the outing planned. It is the senior staffs responsibility to have all permission
slips handed out 3 weeks prior to the
event.
Please keep in mind that not all scouts are eligible for all events due to the qualifications
required for the more demanding trips. It is therefore necessary for each scout
to participate in as many outings as possible so that he can obtain the requirements
necessary for the bigger trips.
All parents are encouraged to “be a scout” and join us on all trips, all I
ask is that we are informed of your plans in the same time frame as the boys.
Thank you
